Our mission
Get you actually speaking the language.
People spend years on language apps and still can’t hold a real conversation. You can keep a 400-day streak alive, finish every unit, and still freeze the moment someone speaks to you fast and casually. That’s not your fault. It’s how the apps are designed.
Most apps teach language as a translation exercise. You see a word in English, you tap the matching word in Spanish. Do that enough and you get very good at one thing: translating. But fluency isn’t translation. A fluent person doesn’t reach for the English word first. They just respond. That’s the muscle we want to build.
Vulpi exists for the person who has tried four apps, owns two phrasebooks, and still can’t order food without rehearsing it three times in their head. We want to close the gap between “I can do this in the app” and “I can do this in real life,” because that gap is where most people give up.
Our approach
A conversation simulator, not another app full of drills.
We didn’t set out to build “a better language app.” We asked a different question: how do you give someone the kind of practice that actually works, the kind that used to require a patient tutor on the other side of the table? Four ideas guide every decision we make.
Conversation, not translation
Every Vulpi lesson is a conversation that reacts to what you say. You answer in the language. The app responds the way a real person would, then keeps the conversation going. No taps-to-translate, no multiple choice.
Practice the situations you'll actually be in
Ordering food in Rome reads very differently from ordering food in a textbook. You tell Vulpi what's coming up (a trip, a meeting, a dinner with your partner's parents) and you practice that exact moment until it stops feeling scary.
A tutor that learns how you learn
Vulpi tracks what's sticking and what isn't. If you keep mixing up the same tense, the next session is built around it. If you nail something, you move on. You stop wasting time on what you already know.
Built for output, not engagement metrics
We don't measure ourselves on minutes spent in the app. We measure ourselves on whether you can actually have the conversation. That means no streak guilt, no fake currencies, no slot-machine reward loops. If it doesn't help you speak, it doesn't ship.
